Project Overview

Changing the way customers experience digital banking

Vanquis bank has been around for 14 years, the current app was created on legacy systems, and the technology support is outdated. Therefore a new app and digital experience was needed. To be able to support our customers to the level that was needed, meant re-inventing our app experience.

Challenge

To put the customer first, and ensure all experiences laddered to putting the customer on a path to better credit.

The new app looks very different to the old

It is designed to support a large and diverse customer population, helping them manage their credit card today, but also flexible for the future.

We spoke to over 300 customers, conducted over 500 hours of interviews and more than 100 usability tests. We learned a lot about what worked and what needed to change.

It's important that our digital products are simple to understand and give customers confidence in what they're doing.

The new Account Summary screen delivers the most important information straight to the customer and tells them what their Next Best Action is.

The redesigned Payments feature helps customers understand what payments are due and if there's anything that needs their attention.

Making a payment from the app is simple and straightforward, and if customers need help, support is just one click away.

Accessibility is at the forefront of the new design

The new app has a high contrast dark mode and is compatible with assistive digital tools such as screen readers.

In tests last year, customers highly rated our accessibility features and were pleased that we had developed the app to support those with accessibility needs.
